Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is when she discovered an old grand piano hidden in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see the possibilities it offered. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music, not for a job or a hobby however, as a chance to develop. The singer began to write lyrics of her own. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with a love for Bjork's style. After her mom told her that her songs would not just help her gain fame, however, they could also help others understand their importance within the global community and see the possibilities for the songs and her music, she was inspired to start playing in front of the public. The piano was her first instrument when she was six years old and started writing music at age nine. Her family didn't hear about her music until she reached 14. There was no way she could have imagined to become Aurora. According to her, she simply enjoys writing songs. For her, music is the only way to feel anything.
